2. Poodle

The majority of people think that poodles are frou-frou show dogs who can’t do anything other than look nice and cuddle in their masters’ arms. However, dog owners and people who know a thing or two about pups understand the brilliance and athleticism of this particular breed.

Whether it’s the tall standard poodle, the miniature or even the toy poodle, these dogs can easily be found at almost any agility trial and they represent some serious competition. They are remarkably fast, intelligent and they are quick learners, all of which makes them excellent agility teammates. They were originally water retrievers, so this kind of behavior comes naturally to them.

Don’t be fooled thinking that their curly coat is easy to groom – you’ll need some professional help with that one, trust us. Because poodles come in so many different sizes, you can actually see them running in almost any jump height, but they focus primarily on the 24” and 12” jump heights.
