It’s impossible to prevent every mishap or injury your dog may experience. While you can’t stop it all, there are some things you can do to reduce the overall risk to your pet in a variety of situations. The following tips will help you protect your beloved canine companion so you both can enjoy a long, happy and healthy life together!

1. If Your Dog Can Reach It, Assume That He or She Will Chew It

When an item is kept out of your dog’s reach, then he or she will be far less likely to chew on it. This is especially important during the puppy stage. If something is potentially dangerous for your pet to put in his or her mouth, move it to a higher elevation or put it in closet or drawer. A dog that hasn’t shown interest in an object yet may get bored and seek it out later when you’re not around.
