Talented photographer Hannah Stonehouse Hudson gained national attention in America when she captured a loving moment between a human and his dog.

John Unger saved Shoep from an abusive situation and adopted him when he was only 8 months old. As time passed, the two shared everything and deepened their friendship and love. Sadly, Shoep became old and suffered from arthritis. In order to help his best friend, John took Shoep into the cold waters of Lake Superior every night to take off the weight of his aching joints.

Hudson witnessed that heart-warming moment and made a photograph that touched the hearts of people worldwide. They donated money for treatment and 19-year-old Shoep lived for another year, thanks to the generosity and kindness of humans. Although he died, Shoep was deeply loved to the very end.
