One of the cutest things your dog does is definitely the famous head tilt. If you’re a dog lover, you probably know this gesture means that the dog is intrigued and trying to understand something that you are telling them. Now, experts are saying that tilting their head is connected with the animal’s ability to feel empathy.

Dogs try really hard to empathize with us and they have basically evolved to be able to understand us and be good companions. By tilting their heads, they can actually read our facial expressions and make sure that the sound that they’re hearing is indeed coming from us.

Interestingly enough, while dogs generally have better hearing than humans, they’re actually worse at detecting where the sound is coming from. So when your puppy tilts their head – consider yourself lucky, as they are probably doing it so they can read your emotional response, a human equivalent of saying “Hey, what’s up? You alright?”
