An eight-year-old golden retriever named Figo and Audrey Stone, his blind owner, were crossing the road in Brewster, New York, when Figo showed just how loyal he is to his human friend.
As they were crossing the road, the driver of the school bus took a turn and failed to notice the two. Figo acted immediately, and threw himself between Audrey and the bus. His quick response resulted in a broken leg and a cut, while Audrey suffered a broken elbow, ankle, three ribs and a cut.
Audrey Stone was taken to the hospital, which left Figo a bit confused, but he was taken to the vet and had surgery performed on his leg. He came out of surgery in good condition and does not require a cone, as he is not chewing on his bandages. Figo’s medical bills have been paid by a benefactor, and the dog has yet to be reunited with his owner, who is still in a hospital 15 miles away.
