Derby is a dog who was born with deformed front legs that left him unable to experience the joys of running and leading a normal life. Luckily, Tara Anderson, a director at 3D printing company 3D Systems, heard about him and decided to do all in her power to help her new furry friend.
She created a pair of specially fitted prosthetic legs for Derby and the results changed his life forever.
Derby’s adopted human Sherry Portanova couldn’t be happier to see her pup running for the first time in his life.
“It was incredible and emotional the first time we saw him run on his new legs. Incredible because it was his very first time on them and emotional because he was so excited to be running. Derby was born with this deformity so he never really knew any different; he was a happy dog. However, his new legs have allowed him to run on concrete, play with other dogs and overall be more mobile.”
