7 Things About Alaskan Malamutes To Help You Decide If This Breed Is For You
Csedo Attila / Bigstock
Similar to the Siberian Husky and the Canadian Eskimo dog breeds, the Alaskan Malamute is a rather large breed that makes a good pet. This breed is sometimes called a sled dog since they are used to pull sleds. Of course, you do not need to live in a winter wonderland to own one of these dogs, but there are a few things that you should know about the breed before determining if it is a good match for you.
1. They Have A Friendly Temperament
While they are dependable when it comes to things like pulling a sled, the Alaskan Malamute is a very friendly dog. They are generally affectionate and playful, however they do get more reserved as they age. So, you do not have to worry about a large dog jumping on a small child.
