There’s been a long standing debate over whether dogs are better than cats. While some choose to stay neutral, there are those who swear about one over the other. However, when you put a specific breed – such as Border Collies – up against cats, there’s really no contest over who is the smarter species. Here are six reasons why Border Collies are more cunning than cats.

1. Border Collies have higher IQ’s

Border Collies aren’t just smarter than cats, they’re actually smarter than their counterparts. Stanley Coren, a psychology professor, author, and neuropsychological researcher, ranked 110 dog breeds based on a survey completed by 200+ professional dog obedience judges, and the Border Collie came out on top. In case you were wondering, the average dog has about the same level of intelligence as a 2-year-old.
