If you love to read about dog stories that will warm your heart and touch your soul, these are the best ones of all time.
1. HACHIKO
One of the best known stories about dogs who couldn’t and wouldn’t accept their owners’ death is certainly the story of Hachiko, an Akita from Tokyo who lived in the 1920’s. Hachiko’s owner was a University of Tokyo professor who travelled to work by train each day. Hachiko would wait for him at the Shibuya train station every single day at the same time, and the two would walk home together.
This routine went on for a year or so, when, one day, the professor didn’t return home from university. Hachiko was there, waiting like he did every day, the trains came and went, but the professor never came back – he died from a sudden brain hemorrhage. This didn’t stop Hachiko from believing that someday he would come back, so for the following nine years, nine months and fifteen days he was there each day at the same time, waiting patiently. He became a sensation in Japan and after his death in 1935 he became a national symbol of loyalty.
