21 Exotic Dog Breeds
Löwchen, which is German for Little Lion Dog, is a very rare and luxurious dog breed. These elegant dogs are classified by some as toy dogs and the American Kennel Club classifies them as non-sporting dogs.
At one point, this was the single rarest breed in the world. In the 1970s there were as little as 65 of them in the entire world. Today, the Löwchen is still very rare, with only a couple hundred new registrations each year. Löwchen dogs have a rich, wavy coat with a mane that are neither too thin nor too sharp and thick, but rather a combination of the two types of hair.
They come in all colors, most notably brown, with brown eyes and nose. In addition to being an extremely rare dog breed, Löwchen are sought after also because they don’t shed and they are almost hypoallergenic, meaning they are not likely to cause allergies to dog hair.
