Are you looking for a dog breed that is really going to stand out in your neighborhood? If that’s the case, here are 21 rather uncommon and exotic dog breeds that are worth looking into if you want to have the most interesting and unique dog on the block.

1. Mudi

This gorgeous but extremely rare Hungarian dog is a relative to other famous Hungarian breeds – Puli and Pumi. Mudi was separated from those two breeds in the 1930s and since then it was carefully bred mostly for dog shows, but also for work and companionship. Today, it is a nearly priceless dog and those who are lucky enough to own them take extreme pride in them.

Mudi is a herding breed that weighs from 18 to 29 pounds and stands from 15 to 19 inches high. Its hair is moderately curly or wavy and can be black, brown, white, yellow, merle and several other variations. In addition to herding duties, Mudis are good hunters, especially for rodents.

They are easy to groom, fairly healthy and have a life expectancy of 14 years on average. These gorgeous dogs are loving, courageous, intelligent and strong. No wonder people love them so much.
