2. Doberman

Here is a little fun fact for you – the Doberman was originally developed by a guy called Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann. Karl’s occupation? A tax collector. Perhaps that is why some people feel apprehensive about these agile and powerful dogs? Or maybe it is because of their reputation as particularly violent dogs?

Originally, Dobermans were bred to be guard dogs, or more precisely personal protection dogs. Nothing like having a Canine Secret Service around you at all times. They were also used for police work and in the military.

As years went by, breeders took away much of their aggression and today’s Dobermans are extremely intelligent, easy to train and insanely loyal. When we are talking “working” Dobermans, the most common role they play is still one of the guard dog.

And really, would you mess with anyone who walks with one of these by their side or has them in their backyard?
