- 19 Dog Breeds That Shouldn’t Live With Cats
8. Italian Greyhound
The Italian greyhound is not as fast as their more famous cousin, but that doesn’t make them the ideal cat companion. They are also created to chase after small game, and your cat could easily be their next prey. Italian greyhounds are generally submissive dogs who thrive in peaceful environments, but when they see an animal that is moving quickly, they will follow their instincts.
However, not all is lost. Whether they will get along with other pets primarily depends on their owner and the way they are trained and socialized. It goes without saying that humans in the household have to be dominant over the dog and teach them not to attack other pets.
We recommend bringing both the cat and the dog home at the same time, and introducing them at an early age. That way, they will grow up together and the Italian greyhound won’t perceive his feline friend as food.
