4. Samoyed

The adorable Samoyed may look like an oversized toy, but this Siberian working dog also has a high prey drive, as well as a strong herding instinct. They will, undoubtedly, be the perfect family pet who loves everyone, but the question is whether your cat will be their best friend or prey?

As previously stated, every dog is different and you should assess the situation on an individual level: some Samoyeds adore kittens, while others think of them as their next meal. The worst part is that you can never be 100% sure that your cat is safe.

Despite the fact that the majority of Samoyeds will love their cats if they were raised together, instincts are instincts and you can never know if the prey drive will kick in at some point in their life (usually when they become sexually mature).
