3. Beagle

Beagles are charming little dogs who will melt your heart as soon as you meet them. They are kind and affectionate family members who love nothing more than to play with kids and spend time with their humans. Though they also get along well with other animals, beagles were bred for hunting and may not be aware that your hamster is not their toy.

According to Dog Time, “Beagles have approximately 220 million scent receptors compared to the paltry 5 million or so in people, which makes them very good at picking up scents.”

Like all scenthounds, beagles also need to be socialized from an early age and taught not to chase after other small animals, but there’s no need to worry as beagles are highly-trainable and obedient dogs. However, there is a catch: these joyful dogs also tend to be pretty pig-headed and often believe they know everything best.
