11 Things You Need to Know Before Choosing A Dog Breeder
2. Do your research before you call
The breeder should be recognized by the American Kennel Club if in the USA. Check with the kennel club to be sure the dam and sire are registered (they will have registration numbers). Check if the sire or dam have won any ribbons in any shows (don’t just take her word for it). Ask your local veterinarians if they know of any good breeders for the breed you want. Also, check with the better business bureau. If there is a website for the breeder, check it for negative comments. Never ever get a dog, even a free one, from a flea market or outside Walmart. Ever.
