3. Lower Calcium Levels During Early Development

Large breed dogs develop more slowly and don’t reach full size as quickly as smaller breeds, so the food they’re fed needs to have reduced levels of calcium in order to ensure healthy growth and development of bones and joints. Too much calcium can result in skeletal issues.
