Croatian Court Orders Dog To Stop Barking
An angry neighbor in northern Croatia has won a temporary court order that says a dog must stop barking from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Medo, a 3-year-old mutt who is now confined in a barn at night, is the only dog in Croatia who is prohibited from doing what all dogs normally do.
The neighbor claims that Medo affected her health by barking nonstop. However, owner Anton Simunovic laughs off these accusations and asserts that Medo barks normally, like any other dog.
In addition to preventing the dog from barking, the fed up neighbor is suing for more than $1,500 in damages. The current injunction stipulates that Simunovic will have to pay more than $3,000 if his dog barks during the night.
Although his neighbor doesn’t like him, Medo has numerous supporters on social media who are baffled by the court’s decision. More than 40,000 people have joined the poor dog’s Facebook page, many of whom are posting pics and videos of their own dogs barking in support and offering solidarity.
Since a court in Pula is yet to make a final ruling, people hope that Medo’s barking ban will be lifted and he will be able to express himself, even at night.
