6 Best Ways to Train Your Labrador Retriever

Labs are essentially designed for the water. Some instinctively jump right in, but others will be nervous their first time. Never force your dog in. Take him to a shallow area, and let him get used to having his feet wet. Keep him on a long lead in the water until he is confident. If he will not go deep enough to doggie paddle on his own, you might need to help by getting in with him. Keep one hand under his belly and the other on his back to keep him level. If he panics and goes vertical he won’t be able to propel himself forward, so training to keep his body level is important.
