22 Hypoallergenic Dog Breeds
The Havanese were first bred as companions for Cuban aristocrats – hence the name. They became popular throughout the world thanks to their great character and the loyalty to the owner – they stick close to the owner so much that they are sometimes called Velcro Dogs.
Havanese have big, fluffy coat that, fortunately, doesn’t shed. They are hypoallergenic and are generally ideal for young families with small children. They love to play around, don’t mind a bit of roughhousing and don’t need much exercise aside from what they get in the house.
Still, Havanese do require some patient grooming every week or so, to keep their coat neat and fluffy.
Havanese are great friends with almost everyone. They are rarely shy or nervous and make friends quickly, even with other dogs or pets. They don’t cause much trouble, but they do have a tendency to alert you if someone’s at the door even before the doorbell rings, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
