2. Asparagus Fern
A common household plant, the Asparagus Fern is poisonous to dogs (and cats) and can cause skin irritations in dogs that are frequently exposed to the plant. In addition, this plant is often used in floral arrangements.
Asparagus fern, also known as ox-tail fern, emerald fern, or plumosa fern, is not fatal to dogs, but can cause them great pain.
The plant grows small berries which can harm your dog if ingested. The toxic agent in the plant is sapogenin — a steroid found in many plants.
The usual symptoms of asparagus fern poisoning include vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. The dog will experience discomfort for a few days and return to normal, but if you notice a severe reaction, it would be best to talk to a vet.
