7. “Test” Leave for Varying Lengths of Time
Ease your dog into being home alone by “test” leaving. Randomly prepare to leave then go outside for varying lengths of time. Don’t forget to also do this with your vehicle (get in the car and take a quick drive around the block or to a local store). Eventually your dog will learn not to get anxious because you will be coming back.
